If you are trying to get rid of plants with a bad smell but do not know what they look like, there are ways of spotting them.

The Eastern Skunk Cabbage can be found on the east coast of the United States and is known for its mimicking skunk odor. This plant is recognizable by the purple color within the leaf folds and can make its way into neighborhoods and gardens. They mainly spread when bees and insects pollinate the ground, and if an insect happens to be in your garden, they could very well sow the seeds of this skunk cabbage in your garden. The critical thing to remember is to recognize skunk cabbage or any other plant that emits a foul odor for immediate removal.

Other wicked-smelling plants Amorphophallus, Stapelia, and Smilax, are other plants that you can spot in our hemisphere and other parts of the world, but they can find their way into your yard if the conditions are right. If you have a pest problem, you can grow bad-smelling flowers to deter pests. If you do not mind the smell and have an expansive yard, you can plant these bad-smelling flowers to ward off deer and other small animals that may find their way into your garden. These plants may smell, but their beauty does compensate for their terrible odors. That is a way of naturally repelling animals while protecting your garden area.

However, if you do not take kindly offensive odors, you can get rid of bad-smelling flowers by keeping a trimmed and neat garden. Recognize plants that may emit foul odors and use herbicides to kill them. Always attack the roots to kill the plants. Be sure to regularly cut grass to cut down on excess foliage such as ragweed, weeds, and other plants from contaminating your garden.
