Shade Fern Package - 10 Plants

Shade Fern Package -10 Plants is the perfect solution for adding lush greenery and a touch of elegance to any shady area of your home or garden. This thoughtfully curated collection of ten different varieties is specifically chosen to thrive in low-light conditions, making it ideal for challenging spots where other types struggle to flourish.

Shade Fern Package - 10 Plants Enjoy Colorful Fonds

They lack seeds and flowers but make up for them with their stems, leaves, and roots. They proliferate either vegetatively or through the release of spores. When the earth is warm enough, they often start sprouting new fronds early to mid-spring. Their springtime sprouting time varies depending on whether they're in a cooler or warmer climate. New fronds unfurl as they grow; they are known as fiddleheads. Their three-to-four-foot-tall, medium-green, vase-shaped fronds eventually cover vast areas, creating an eye-catching, verdant groundcover, especially when planting ten or more. They are available in a rainbow of hues, from copper and silver to gold, green, and even purple.

Create Vertical Backdrops With Shade Fern

When grown in thick clusters, their feathery fronds provide an impression of density and texture ideal for filling vertical areas. They are great for use as living screens or green walls in places where others might struggle to grow. They are available in various sizes and feature varying growth habits. This makes them especially ideal for creating unique garden designs. Because of their versatility and natural growth behavior, they are perfect for making a flower meadow.

Their rich mat of feathery leaves can flourish in a variety of settings. Their varied textures and green colors perfectly complement each other in a meadow environment, evoking images of wild and lovely countryside.

Outline Garden Borders and Walkways With These Perennials

Because of their discreet look, Shade Ferns are perfect for lining walkways and gardens. They are available in various textures, so you can choose the perfect one to complement your garden or pathway. These textures can range from soft and delicate to rough and dense. Some get tall, while others stay short. Glossy varieties, drab variants, evergreen versions, and deciduous types exist. Mixing a flower package with other shadow-loving types makes for a beautiful leaf display.

Care

For the Shade Fern Package, keep the soil consistently moist and well-drained. Mulch the base to keep moisture and regulate temperature. In spring, fertilize with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer. Remove dead fronds to encourage healthy growth.

Plant Reproduction icon

Plant Reproduction

Shade Fern spreads via rhizomes, producing new fronds from underground.

Choose early spring or fall when the soil is moist and cool to plant healthy bare-root ferns. You can also use dormant plants to grow year-round. When you arrive, please soak the roots in water for several hours to rehydrate them. Ferns thrive in moist and shaded areas. Dig a hole wide and deep enough to spread out the roots comfortably. Position the fern so the crown (where the roots meet the fronds) is just at or slightly below ground level. Gently backfill with soil firmly around the roots, and thoroughly water to settle the soil and eliminate air pockets. Apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch for weed control and to retain moisture, ensuring the mulch does not touch the crown. Water during dry periods is used to keep soil moist but not soggy. Avoid fertilizing in the first year, as ferns prefer nutrient-rich soil over direct fertilization.

Shipping date depends on the date displayed and chosen when you order from the product's page.

Shade fern package_ all had good roots. Loved getting all 3 kinds but I had **** heard of one of them- glade fern, so not sure if it is native to our area. All look healthy.

Heads up!

I ordered a selection of ferns ,bare root, and they seem to be viable and healthy, but I won’t know until next spring if they come up.

Shipping was more problematic. The first time they gave me notice of shipping I kept getting updates that it was running late and then it **** showed up.

I emailed and sent a second orders and apologized immediately (again?) Longer than the estimate but a few days I don’t know whether it is something that I will share with.

As advertised.

My ferns came in good shape. They are in the ground now. The only one I’m concerned about are Hay Scent. They were a loose brown Brillo pad, with no Indication of which end was up. 🤞🏻

A little less variety than I was expecting

Appreciate the speedy delivery of the fern order. I was somewhat disappointed by the lack of much variety, perhaps made **** by the fact that I have two of the three ferns in my yard already and was hoping for a little more variety more in line with what I thought I was seeing in the picture. It would be great if there had been an idea of what I could have expected. Anyway, I don’t have the Cinnamon Fern and do look forward to its presence in the garden.
