About Tammy Sons - TN Nursery

Tammy Sons is the owner and CEO of TN Nursery, a third-generation family nursery founded in Altamont, Tennessee, in 1959 by her father, Roscoe Tate.

Growing up in the nursery business, Tammy developed a lifelong knowledge of native plants, trees, perennials, and responsible growing practices. She later transformed the traditional regional nursery into a nationally recognized e-commerce company that ships plants to customers across the United States.

Today, TN Nursery owns and operates approximately 170 acres and 10 greenhouses, and works with local growers who have access to hundreds more acres. 

Under Tammy’s leadership, the nursery has supplied plants for prominent organizations and landmarks, including NASA, the Washington Monument, Arlington National Cemetery, the 9/11 Memorial, and the Discovery and History channels.

Tammy is especially passionate about native plants, sustainable landscaping, pollinator habitats, and preserving her family’s horticultural legacy while modernizing the business for future generations.
