What We Ship

The Benefits of Bare Root Plants

Bare root plants are shipped without soil or pots, making them lightweight and easy to handle. They arrive dormant, ready to be planted and thrive as beautiful, healthy additions to your garden.

Cost-Effective

With no heavy pots or soil, you'll save 50-60% on shipping costs, and you can easily plant our plants yourself—no equipment needed, just a spade for digging small holes.

Hassle-Free

Bare root plants are hassle-free because they're lightweight, easy to handle, and require minimal packaging. They establish quickly, saving you time and effort in planting and maintenance.

Better Growth

Bareroot dormant plants are more hardy because they adapt better to new environments, with stronger root systems that establish quickly, leading to greater resilience and improved survival rates in various conditions.

Eco-Friendly

Bare root native plants are environmentally friendly because they promote biodiversity, require less water and maintenance, and support local ecosystems, making them a sustainable choice for eco-conscious gardening

Features
Why You Will Love Our Chicory

Charming Leaf Structure

The plant's leaves vary by age, with attractive curly leaves at the base in the first season and smaller, stem-clasping leaves in subsequent seasons. This distinctive leaf pattern adds additional visual interest.

Erosion Control

Beyond their beauty, Chicory plants help prevent soil leaching and erosion, contributing to the overall health and stability of your garden. They’re as functional as they are attractive.

Dynamic Growth

Chicory plants grow up to 5 feet tall but are typically around 2 feet, forming a lovely canopy when planted in clusters. Their daily blooming cycle offers a fresh display of flowers throughout the spring and summer.

Pollinator Magnet

Chicory's vibrant blue flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects, enhancing garden biodiversity. This support for local pollinators boosts the fertility and productivity of the entire landscape.

Caring Tips

How do I care for my Chicory?

Each box contains detailed care instructions and information about your product. But here's the basics.

Care Tips

Chicory thrives in well-drained soil with regular, moderate watering. It is hardy and tolerant of various temperatures. Harvest young leaves for a mild taste, or let the plant mature for a more robust flavor.

Light Requirements

Chicory grows best in full sun, requiring at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily. While it can handle partial shade, optimal growth and flavor are achieved with ample sunlight.

Too soon to tell

I just planted the little dudes today. They arrived in the middle of a hellacious heatwave and today (6/23) was the first day with the cooler temp and cloud cover that I felt it safe to plant them. A couple of the plants were very tiny so I hope they grow up.
