Blue Vervain - Verbena hastata

The Blue Vervain (Verbena hastata) is native to the mainland United States and parts of Canada. It is commonly found in wet meadow and riparian ecosystems. They are also known by another common name “Soggy Verbena” highlighting just how much these delightful perennials like wet soils.

The inflorescences of this plant are shaped like the head of a spear, which is denoted in the epithet “hastasta” which means “spear-shaped” in Latin. These spears are grouped in panicles at the top of each stem. Each spear produces dozens of endearingly tiny, five-lobed flowers that are violet to purple in color. While the flowers are delightfully violet-purple, the stem from which the spears and flowers emerge embodies deep red to pink hues, providing a subtle accent color component to the garden.

My order came I was so excited
They are in the ground.
Blue vervain Plant roots kind of spindley, tiny plant. but we shall see.

Shipping was good.

Shipping was fast enough, root size generous. The bee balm was labeled incorrectly and it took awhile to figure out what it was. That's all there is to comment on since the roots are in the ground and way too early for any comments on something that hasn't sprouted yet. Ask me next summer how the plants are doing.

I planted the Blue vervain in the sunny part of the garden. I'm still waiting for new growth.

I guess I missed the part about being bare root when shipped. I like the ones in small pots. Your service & prices are great, though.
