Caring Tips

How do I care for my Virginia Bluebell?

Each box contains detailed care instructions and information about your product. But here's the basics.

Care Tips

Virginia Bluebell (Mertensia virginica) thrives in well-drained, rich soil. Water regularly to keep the dirt wet, particularly during dry periods. Remove spent blooms to encourage new growth. Separate plants every few years to maintain vigor and prevent overcrowding.

Light Requirements

Virginia Bluebells (Mertensia virginica) thrive in partial to full shade, making them ideal for woodland gardens. They prefer dappled sunlight but can tolerate early morning sun. Too much natural sunlight can push the leaves to wilt or scorch.

Awesome plants all the way around with TN Nursery! They are so Incredible and affordable that I can't say enough great things about them! I'd recommend this service to anyone trying to build or rebuild any kind of garden. Pollinator friendly 4 me! Instead of 2 bare roots on each bag, I had 4 bare roots in each bag!!

some roots looked ****, some questionable, and some showing…life!

I planted the Bluebell roots immediately with some fertilizer and watered them all well. There were a variety of root sizes from 2 inches to 6 inches and although I ordered 6, there were 7. About half looked hardy and “ready to grow”, but the other half seemed a bit “in shock” and “ready to let go”! So, having planted all of them…I will be delighted when/if they demonstrate that they like their new “digs”.

I wasn’t sure how to plant so I think I put them in too deep-I should have called. I went on YouTube
There should be specific instructions for bluebells added in package and not general instructions
